Exodus 3:13-14
13 Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?”

14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’”

Exodus 6:2-3
God also said to Moses, “I am the Lord. I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty,[El-Shaddai] but by my name the Lord I did not make myself fully known to them.

The Patriarchs knew God as “God Almighty (El Shaddai).
God revealed himself to Moses as the “I Am” THE LORD

The “I Am” means YGWH, The LORD

The Difference?
This passage shows a shift; while the patriarchs knew God as powerful (God Almighty, El Shaddai), He wasn’t known to them specifically by the covenant name YHWH, which signifies His active saving and redeeming power for Israel.
He came to save!

200 million galaxies in the known universe.
400 Billion stars in the Milky Way Galaxy
200 Billion Trillion (or 200 sextillion) Stars in the Universe
There are more stars in the universe than there is sand on our planet.
Psalm 147:4 He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.

A caterpillar has 220 muscles in its head
A spider spins 60 ft. of web per hour and simultaneously produces an oil on its feet to keep the spider from getting stuck on the web.
In the human body, over 600 muscles and 206 bones.

The average poplar tree has over 6 million leaves
There are 300 different types of bananas
Plants suck up water from the earth while at the same time breathing in carbon dioxide, which is deadly to humans but produce oxygen of what we need.

Romans 1:20 through creation we see His “invisible qualities” and “divine nature.”

Psalm 19:1-4
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where there voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.

God is holy – we are not
God is eternal – But you LORD, sit enthroned forever; your renown endures through all generations… But you remain the same, and your years will never end. (Psalm 102)
Hebrews 13:8 God is the same yesterday, today and forever.
God is all-knowing – Psalm 139 (in our mother’s womb)
Hebrews 4:13 – Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
God is all-powerful Colossians 1:16 All things were created FOR God. “For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.”
Psalm 115:3 “Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him.
Daniel 4:35 (Nebuchadnezzar’s declaration) – All the people of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does what he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him: “What have you done?”
God is fair and just

THE THRONE
Revelation 4 and Isaiah 6
John describes his account of seeing God in Revelation 4
1. Two gems: jasper and ruby”
2. A rainbow shown around the throne like an emerald
3. Flashes of lighting and rumblings and peals of thunder
4. Seven lamps blazing
5. Twenty-four other thrones with 24 elders seated on them, dressed in white with golden crowns.
6. There were living creatures;  The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying:
“‘Holy, holy, holy
is the Lord God Almighty,’[Isaiah 6:3]
who was, and is, and is to come.”
Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: “You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
    and have their being.”

In Isaiah 6, Isaiah said he SAW the LORD seated on a throne.
1. The train (the bottom) of God’s robe filled the temple
2. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”
At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.
“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”
Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”

Both of these descriptions serve a purpose. John’s helps us imagine what the throne room of God looks like, while Isaiah’s reminds us what our only response to such a God should be.
Woe is me. we are a people of unclean lips.

Do you stand in awed silence before a mighty, fearsome God.
We must ask the question, “Who am I?”
